Alesia Mikalayeva and the doubles team of Brigette Zarazee and Shelby Lipson of the Illinois State womens tennis team advanced into championship matches in the main draw of their respective brackets Saturday at the Billiken Fall Classic.
Mikalayeva knocked Murray States Erica Heshelman out of contention for the No. 1 and No. 2 singles bracket crown with a 6-4, 6-0 victory. A victory over Missouris Kristina Olshanskaya (6-4, 6-1) placed Mikalayeva in the title match tomorrow morning at 8 am. Zarazee/Lipson also defeated two opponents to advance to the title match of the No. 3 and No. 4 doubles bracket upper draw.
Zarazee will be competing for two titles as she advanced into the consolation championship match of the No. 5 and No. 6 singles bracket upper draw.
Championship play begins at the Saint Louis University Billiken Tennis Center at 8 am.
