The Illinois State womens golf team is currently in 16th place of 16 teams after the first day of competition at the Lady Northern in Minneapolis.
The Redbirds are 26 strokes behind first place Purdue, with a first round score of 335. Leading the team is Jill Rachford, who fired an 81 which landed her at a tie for 35th place.
Nicole Foy was one stroke behind Rachford with a first round score of 82 and at a tie for 47th place. Becky Brtva and Sara Prack are tied at 82nd place with a score of 86 each.
The Birds will begin round two of the Lady Northern 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course.
