Illinois State mens tennis team won all four singles matches in a 5-1 victory over Oklahoma at the Navy Invitational Friday afternoon.
In the singles round at No. 1 Ricky Heath defeated Tobias Kronlein, 6-4, 6-2, while Jason Smit cruised past Julio Martinez, 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 2 position. Yew Ming Si defeated Matt Ogle 6-2, 7-6, 6-3 at No. 3 and Brent Steven topped Chris Mitchell, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.
Heath and Si claimed victory in the doubles round over Kronlein and Mitchell, 8-1. Albert Piasecki and Brent Steven, 8-4 fell to Martinez and Ogle, 8-4, the only loss of the day.
On Saturday, Illinois State will compete against Navy in a 12:30 p.m. match. The Birds will play the singles portion of the duals against Virginia at 4 p.m. Sunday morning the team will continue competition with Virginia playing the doubles portion of the duals, concluding the tournament.
