After beginning its season with one win and one loss, the Illinois State mens tennis team will compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Tennis Championship Jan. 26-28 at the Drake Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Indiana State dominated all schools at the 2000 MVC Championship by taking home seven of the possible ten titles, while Illinois State earned a conference crown at the No. 4 singles position last year.
Yew Ming Si was victorious against Southwest Missouri States Jan Vanco at the 2000 MVC Championship at No. 4 singles.
With Yew Ming Sis win last year, were hoping he can do it again, head coach Greg Kennett said. So far everyone has been competing at the top of their ability, so the outlook for this weekend is positive.
For some reason doubles team Brent Steven and Jason Smit are not seeded in the tournament, but I know they will do well, Kennett said.
Brent Steven and Jason Smit are ranked No. 44 in the nation.
Play will begin on Friday, Jan. 26 and conclude on Sunday, Jan. 28.
