With a strong start from sophomore Albiona Zhubi and senior Jill Rachford, the Redbirds stand in eighth place after the first two rounds of play.
Zhubi fired out of the gates with a career high first round score of 74 and ended the day tied for 16th place. Rachford shot a 78 in the first round and an 81 in the second, which left her tied for 20th place.
Freshman Katie Laehn helped engineer the Redbird charge with a 77 in the first round to leave her tied for 29th place. Teammate Ashlee Johnson is tied for 46th place, while Sarah Loomis is tied for 67th.
Minnesota is the team leader after day one followed by, Texas El Paso, Illinois and Oral Roberts. Arkansas and Texas Corpus Christi are tied for fifth place.
The Redbirds resume action tomorrow with a tee time slated for 8:00 a.m.
