The Illinois State swimming and diving team will need 100% effort from its entire roster when facing two in-state rivals for their first double-dual meet of the season. Northern Illinois will be hosting both the Redbirds and the University of Illinois on Friday at 6:00 pm in the Anderson Hall Pool.
With the Redbirds taking last week off, they are itching to race and no team is better competition for ISU than the NIU Huskies.
Every event has the potential to be an exciting and close race, said head coach
Steve Paska. We are evenly matched with NIU and are looking forward to the competition.
Paska also explained that this is the first meet of the season where the entire team can perform.
I am expecting the entire team to contribute this weekend, said Paska. From our newcomers to our seniors, and the five freshman divers, they all will be key in the meet.
The meet, which allows all swimmers and divers to compete, consists of 13 events with two swimmers scoring in each event.
Last year, the Redbirds split the NIU and Illinois meet, defeating Northern Illinois 64-49 but falling to U of I 62-50.
