Laura Gravino competed in the qualifying rounds at the 2001 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional today, but was unable to come out on top this time.
Gravino, who was competing for a place in the Singles Main Draw, put away Wisconsins Lianna Dorn (6-0, 6-2) during the first round, but was met with defeat when she came up against Cleveland States Irina Strembitsky during the second round.
TheDoubles Main Draw begins Friday at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium. The team of Liina Suurvarik and Alesia Mikalayeva, who have been undefeated in the past two tournaments, compete at 5:15 p.m. The Singles Main Draw begins on Saturday. The tournament runs through next Tuesday, Oct.30.
