Despite several solid individual efforts, the Illinois State swimming and diving team was up-ended by both Northern Illinois and Illinois in the Redbirds first double dual meet of the season.
Illinois State fell to Northern Illinois, 64-49, and was dropped by Illinois, 83-29.
A first-place finish in the 400 yard free relay by ISUs Lindsay Crowder, Sara Hayworth, Deb Birrer, and Brittany Erickson was the highlight of the evening for the Redbirds. ISUs Nicole DuCharme, Dede Woytowych, Chelsea Sanders, and Andrea Neubauer also took third in this event with a final time of 3:48.02.
Senior Diana Cirstea took third-place honors in two events, and senior Lindsay Crowder took third in one event and fourth in another. Senior Brittany Erickson also brought home fourth-place in the 100 yard freestyle.
The next meet for the Birds is the Illinois Invite at 6p.m. on Friday, Nov.9 at Champaign, Ill.
