Stacia Beste was named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week following her performance at the MVC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 27.
Beste, a senior from Shorewood, Wis., was the individual 5K champion with a time of 17:34.54 at the 2001 Missouri Valley Conference Womens Cross Country Championship. She was also named the Valley Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year following the event for her first-place finish. Illinois State finished fourth at the meet.
To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week recognition, student-atheletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
