Breit and Beste Named Valley/Prairie Farms Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Robert Breit and Stacia Beste were named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Week following their performances at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, November 19. Breit, a senior from Skokie, Ill., placed 80th of a field of 244 competitors at the national meet in Greenville, S.C. He finished with a time of 30:46 on the 10K course. Breit has a 3.17 cumulative grade-point average and is pursuing a degree in business administration. Beste, a senior from Shorewood, Wis., finished 41st of a field of 249 competitors at the womens national meet, also in Greenville, S.C. She clocked a time of 21:32 on the 6K course. Beste carries a 3.90 GPA and is a psychology major. To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week recognition, student-atheletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.00, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
