Amy Biedenharn of Edgerton, Ohio and Lauren Strnad of Washington, Mo. have signed national letters of intents to continue their gymnastics and academic careers at Illinois State University.
Biedenharn will graduate from Edgerton High School, where she is an honors student and vice-president of her class. She trains at New Heights Gymnastics under coach Amy Drummer. Biedenharn was a 2000 and 2001 level 10 Nationals qualifier and a three-time level 10 Regionals qualifier.
Illinois States head gymnastics coach, Beth Larson calls Biedenharn an all-around athlete who is excited to be part of a team. Amy will bring power and grace to the Redbird line-up.
Strnad will graduate from Washington High School, where she is an honors student. She trains at GymQuarters Gymnastics under coach Scott Cusimano, who also coached current Redbird gymnasts, Annie Chapman and Lisa Klein. Strnad was 2000 and 2001 Nationals qualifier.
Laurens elegance and love for the sport of gymnastics will bring depth to all events, Larson said. Both Amy
and Lauren are outstanding students and athletes. They will definitely help fill the very large shoes of seniors Sarah Anderson, Annie Chapman, Rena Fox, and Jamie Reinick.
Biedenharn and Strnad are the only gymnasts Coach Larson has signed for the early signing period.
