Swimmers/Divers In 4th With One Day Remaining

Andrea Lovelle led the Illinois State swimming and diving team with a first-place finish in 3-meter diving as the Redbirds maintained their fourth place position on the second day of the Missouri Valley Conference Championships. Lovelle finished with a final score of 519.10 to defeat Vanessa Noriega from Southwest Missouri State, who came in second with a 514.30, and Breanne Hay from Southern Illinois University, who came in third with a 414.40. Southern Illinois is in the lead after the second day of the meet with a score of 633. Evansville maintained second place with 552 points, while Southwest Missouri State finished third with 389 points. The Redbirds trail SMS by 23 points with a score of 366. Lindsay Crowder finished in fourth place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 59.98. Crowder was also a member to both the 800 yard Freestyle Relay and the 200 yard Medley Relay that each took third place. Along with her on the 800 yard freestyle Relay was Heather Norris, Nicole DuCharme and MaryAnne Cooper. Her teammates for the 200 yard Medley Relay were Tiffany Dudley, Deborah Birrer and Brittany Erickson.
