Illinois State guard
Shawn Jeppson was today named to the Missouri Valley Conferences Most Improved Team and All-Bench Team. He is the only player to appear on both teams.
The junior from Spring Valley, Ill., averages 12.5 points per game, despite the fact that he has started just 10 games.
Jeppson entered the season with 19 career double-digit scoring games, but has matched that total this season alone.
He ranks among the leagues top 10 in field goal percentage (best among the guards), free throw percentage, three-point percentage and steals and has set career single-game personal bests this season for points, rebounds, assist, steals and three-point field goals.
Jeppson is on track to become the first guard in school history to lead the team in field goal percentage in back-to-back seasons, despite the fact that more than one-third of his attempts come from outside the arc.
He is also one of the few players in the MVC with more steals (40) than turnovers (38).
The remainder of the Missouri Valleys all-conference player honors will be announced during a teleconference on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
