Lindsay Crowder finished second in the 100 yard Freestyle and was part of the 400 yard Freestyle Relay team that finished third to help secure a fourth place finish for the Illinois State swimming and diving team at the 2001 Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
Crowder finished with a time of 52.61 behind Kim Dodson of Evansville in the 100 yard Freestyle final. Her preliminary time for the 100 yard Freestyle was a 52.51, a personal-best time. Crowder was also part of the 400 yard Freestyle Relay team that took third place. Brittany Erickson, Nicole DuCharme and Megan Yontz were her teammates in this event.
During the three-day meet, Crowder scored 48 individual points for her team, and was sixth on the list for top female individual scorers.
Southern Illinois won the meet for the fourth consecutive year with a score of 914. Evansville finished second with a final score of 752, and Southwest Missouri State placed third with a 571. Illinois State finished the three-day tournament with a final score of 549.50, to finish fourth out of six teams.
Also contributing to the Redbirds efforts were senior Tiffany Dudley and junior Diana Cirstea. Tiffany Dudley placed fifth in the 200 yard Backstroke with a time of 207.90, while Cirstea finished sixth in the 200 yard Butterfly with a time of 2:10.06.
