Relays Lead Swimming/Diving Team at NICs

The 200 yard Freestyle Relay team lead the Illinois State swimming and diving team as it finished its first day of competition at the 2001 National Independent Conference Championships. Lindsay Crowder was joined by teammates Deborah Birrer, Brittany Erickson and Dana Rosinski on the 7th place 200 yard Freestyle Relay team. Crowders also posted a 14th place finish in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.80. Andrea Lovelle finished 14th in the 1-meter diving competition. Lovelle scored a 164.40 in the event. Yulia Pakhalina, from the University of Houston, won the event with a 355.30 Another swimmer that contributed to the Redbirds efforts was Brittany Erickson who was a member of the 200 yard Freestyle Relay team and also took 15th place in the 50 yard Freestyle with a time of 24.82. Tomorrow the Redbirds will compete in eight events including 3-meter diving in which Lovelle placed first in last weeks Missouri Valley Conference Championships, and the 800 yard Freestyle Relay in which the team took third at last weekends meet.
