The Illinois State mens tennis team continued its winning streak with a big win over the University of Toledo on Friday in Iowa City with six singles victories and two doubles wins.
At first doubles Ricky Heath and Yew Ming Si took on Toledos Pete Baghdati and Carlos Lomena and managed to come out on top, 8-6. At the No. 3 spot, Albert Piasecki and Thommas de Liefde defeated Hector Arroyo and Klye Ragan, 8-6. Brent Steven and Jason Smit gave it their all but fell to Toledos Dipesh Rao and Alex Farron-Mahon, 8-6.
Illinois State dominated in the singles matches. Toledos Arroyo managed to take de Liefde to three sets but wasnt able to take home the victory. At second and third singles, Smit and Si both had a run for their money against Baghdati and Lomena, also being taken to three sets, but both managed to win in the end.
The Redbirds continue their season Saturday at 9 a.m. in Iowa City when they take on the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
