The Illinois State mens golf team is tied for eighth place with Kansas State University after the first round in the University of Texas at San Antonio Invitational Golf Tournament at Oak Hills Country Club in San Antonio.
The Redbirds completed the first round of their spring season with a score of 589. Texas-Arlington leads the tournament of 12 teams with a score of 563.
The Birds were led by junior B.J. Brown, who sits in the top 20 with a low round of 72 and is currently tied for 17th place with 145.
Nic Baker trails Browns footsteps, tied for 23rd place with a low round of 70 and an overall score of 146.
Dan Cerny contributed a low round of 72 to the team and is tied for 38th place with a score of 150. Freshman Brian Anderson also shot a low round of 72 and is tied for 44th with a score of 151.
Walter Brown is tied for 63rd place and holds a score of 157 after the first round. Adam Goldie shot a low round of 76, holds a score of 159 and is tied for 68th place.
The Redbirds will continue play in San Antonio tomorrow.
