The Illinois State mens tennis team was victorious over the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay on Saturday, with four singles victories and three doubles wins.
The Redbirds first doubles team of Ricky Heath and Yew Ming Si conquered UWGBs Victor Capota and Robert Shamalikian, 8-4. At second and third doubles, Jason Smit and Brent Steven defeated Barry Hankel and Tom Heidenberger, 8-5, and Albert Piasecki and Thommas de Liefde overtook Mike Halberg and Ben Davis, 8-1.
At first singles, Heath blew away the Phoenix Robert Shamalikian, 6-0, 6-0. Smit, Steven, and Piasecki also took home victories for ISU at the second, third, and fourth singles positions, respectively.
Illinois State will continue its season Saturday, February 17 when the team participates in its first home meet of the season against Northern Illinois.
