Redbirds All Tied Up in the Saluki Invite

Junior Jill Rachford and senior Nicole Foy lead the Illinois State University womens golf team with scores of 82 and 83, respectively, after one day of play at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale. Rachford is currently in a tie for 14th with five others, eight strokes behind the leader. Foy is in a log jam of her own, tied with four others in a tie for 20th position, nine strokes behind the leader. The Birds are currently in a tie in the team standings also. The Redbirds are in the middle of the pack in the 14-team field, tied for 6th place with Eastern Michigan and Murray State, with a score of 339. Among Missouri Valley teams, the Birds are in fifth, trailing front-runner and host Southern Illinois, Bradley, Southwest Missouri State and Northern Iowa. Only Creighton and Evansville trail the Redbirds. Aside from Rachford and Foy, the Birds also received a solid performance from freshman Albiona Zhubi. She finished the day in a tie for 29th with a score of 85. --isu--
