Redbirds Tied For Ninth After Day One at Shocker Classic

The Illinois State mens golf team is tied for ninth place with Southwest Texas State after the first day of competition at the Diet Pepsi/Shocker Classic hosted by Wichita State University. The Redbird team shot a 584 (299, 285) for the day at the Crestview Country Club South. The Wichita State Shockers lead the tournament with a score of 554. Freshman Brian Anderson leads the team after firing a career best round of 69 along with a 74 for a total score of 143, putting him in a tie for 20th place. Junior Nic Baker followed up Anderson with an overall score of 146 (73, 73), which landed him in a tie for 35th place. Fellow teammates senior Dan Cerny contributed a 148 (76, 72) in a tie for 47th place and B.J. Brown shot a 151 (80, 71), slipping him into a 66th place tie. Adam Goldie rounded out the tournament in 74th place with a 153 (76, 77). The final 18 holes of the Shocker Classic will resume Tuesday.
