Normal, Ill.-- Illinois State senior Nicole Foy has been named the Missouri Valley Conferences womens golfer of the week.
Foy earned the honor on the heels of an individual championship at the Illini Spring Classic hosted by Illinois. At the spring classic, Foy shot rounds of 76 and 75 to finish with a career best of 151, seven over par, leading her team to a fifth-place tie with conference rival Bradley in the 16-team tournament.
It was just a matter of time before Nicole got this award, said ISU head coach
Ray Kralis. So many times Nicole has been a swing away or a hole away from winning against strong Missouri Valley competition.
The Illini Spring Classic championship was Foys first championship of the season and the second of her career. It was her fourth top five finish of the year and the sixth of her career. Foys first title came at the Eastern Kentucky Invitational in the fall of 1998, during her sophomore year.
It is a tremendous honor for Nicole to receive this award as she finishes her golf career at Illinois State, Kralis said.
