Illinois State freshman Albiona Zhubi shot her second 82 in as many days to move her into soul possession of fifth place at the Missouri Valley Conference womens golf championship in Ashland, Neb. Zhubi is just two strokes out of the lead, with a total of 164.
Joining Zhubi on the leader board are teammates Nicole Foy and Jill Rachford. Foy, moved up 11 spots on day two, moving from a three-way tie at 22nd, to sitting alone in 11th place with a two day total of 169 (86-83). Jill Rachford, shot a second round 82 to vault herself up fifteen spots on the leader board from 27th position to a tie for 12th, with a total score of 170 (88-82). Also competing for the Birds are Sara Prack, Abbe Graceffa, and Becky Brtva who are in 32nd (93-85), 43rd (84-103), and 46th (94-105), respectively after the second round of play.
After a team total of 340 on the first day, the Birds combined for a total of 332 on the second day to move them from seventh to third overall. The two day total of 672 puts them just five strokes behind leader Northern Iowa and one stroke behind second place Bradley, going into the final day of the conference championship.
Karla Schuldt of Northern Iowa and Jessica Polus of Southwest Missouri State are the co-leaders with a score of 162.
The Redbirds will conclude play at the conference championship with Tuesdays third and final round. Tee time is 8 a.m.
