Diver Allison Barrett has signed a National Letter of Intent with Illinois State University.
Barrett, a senior a Downers Grove North High School, hails from Oak Brook, Ill. During her four years at Downers Grove North, she has received 11 varsity letters in the sports of swimming, diving, gymnastics, track and soccer. She has qualified for and participated in the State Meet in diving all four years, finishing in sixth place her senior year.
Barrett was selected as a member of the Illinois All-State Swimming and Diving Team her senior year, and holds the third highest all-time records at Downers Grove North for both the 6- and 11-dive diving events. She has been a state medalist once, a sectional medalist four times, and a conference medalist three times.

Steve Paska, Barrett is a gifted athlete with tremendous potential.
Allison is a great athlete, he said. To say she is a well-rounded athlete is an understatement. I believe the athletic ability she has portrayed throughout high school will enable her to be an outstanding diver in college.
As a student-athlete at Illinois State, Barrett plans to major in math or computer science. She is one of three divers who will be joining the Redbirds for the 2001-2002 season.
