Kankakee native Emily LaVoie has signed a national letter of intent to continue her athletic and academic careers at Illinois State University as a member of the diving team.
At Kankakee High School, LaVoie qualified for the state meet her sophomore through senior years. The four-year letterwinner was also the conference champion in 1999 and 2000 and was named team MVP as a senior.
Emily is a great one-meter diver that will contribute immediately to the success of our team thought the dual meet season and especially at the Missouri Valley Conference meet, head coach
Steve Paska said.
Even though LaVoie does not have much experience on the three-meter board, Paska believes she will experience many successes as a Redbird.
She is a little inexperienced on the three-meter, however, with her tremendous work ethic, Emily, in time, will be a fantastic three-meter diver as well, Paska said. I believe Emily has a very bright future ahead of her at Illinois State.
LaVoie, who earned three academic letters and was a member of the National Honor Society, will major in health science.
