Ricky Heath Ricky Heath and
Yew Ming Si of the Illinois State mens tennis team have been named to the 2001 Missouri Valley Conference All-Select Team.
The all-select team is similar to an at-large selection and is comprised of six individuals chosen regardless of flight distinction by Valley coaches.
Heath, a junior from Cape Town, South Africa, has an overall singles record of 29-12 at No. 1 singles for the Redbirds.
Hailing from Ipoh, Malaysia, Si posted a record of 30-10, splitting time between No. 2 and No. 3 singles. For his two-year career at Illinois State, Si, a senior, has posted a record of 52-17 in singles and 53-12 in doubles. He shared MVP honors last season with former teammate David Cairns.
Both transfers from Cumberland College, Heath and Si teamed to form the No. 1 doubles duo for the Birds. This season, they posted a record of 33-6 and won the No. 1 doubles title at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships.
The Redbirds finished their season with at third-place finish at the Valley tournament and a 17-9 record overall.
