Segerlin Joins Redbird Swimming Staff

Laura Segerlin, a four-year diver at Bowling Green State University, has joined head swimming coach Steve Paskas staff as the new diving coach at Illinois State University. Paska is excited about the addition of Segerlin to his staff. Through the interview process, Laura proved to be a very personable young lady with tremendous personal skills, Paska said. Her ability to communicate well with others will be an invaluable tool in the coaching of our young divers. Paska also believes that Segerlin, only one year removed from collegiate diving herself, will be a positive influence on the six freshman divers joining the team for the upcoming season. The sport has given her so much, and I know that Laura wants to give so much back to the sport, Paska said. We are very excited to have her and we know that shes going to do a great job for us. A native of Rochester, New York, Segerlin was a state diving champion her senior prep campaign before heading to Bowling Green for a standout collegiate career. While at Bowling Green, Segerlin finished in the top-eight at the MAC championships in the three-meter event three times and in the top-eight in the one-meter event once. She was named the diver of the year at Bowling Green as a junior while qualifying for the NCAA Zone meets as a junior and senior. Segerlin is excited about joining Paskas staff at ISU. This is a great chance for me to get my feet wet as a Division I coach and I couldnt think of a better place to do it, Segerlin said. Segerlin plans to pursue a graduate degree in Environmental Health and Safety while at Illinois State.
