Yew Ming Si, a senior on the Illinois State mens tennis team, has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference tennis scholar-athlete team.
Majoring in mathematics and minoring in applied computer science, Si has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Si and Indiana States Stefan Hirn led the team with the highest GPA.
A native of Ipoh, Malaysia, Si transferred from Cumberland College to Illinois State his junior year. In that time, he has compiled an overall singles mark of 57-17. With 53 career doubles wins, Si is tied for seventh-place on Illinois States career doubles win list.
This season, Si and doubles partner Ricky Heath racked up a record of 33-6 at the No. 1 position. In singles, Si posted a 30-10 record and earned a spot on the Valley All-Select Team.
