Four Illinois State softball players, including a repeat selection in
pitcher Nicole Kurth, have been selected to the first squad of the Missouri Valley Conference all-star team.
Joining Kurth as Redbirds on the first team are second baseman April
Schermann, third baseman Becky McMurtry and outfielder Cutie Taylor.
ISU outfielder Bridget Fournie was a second-team pick.
Kurth and Southern Illinois' Erin Stremsterfer were named finalists for
the league's Pitcher of the Year award.
McMurtry is a finalist for Player of the Year along with Jessica Huff of Evansville and Lindsay Wood of Northern Iowa.

Melinda Fischer joins Kerri Blaylock of Southern Illinois and Gwen Lewis of Evansville as Coach of the Year finalists.
Winners of the individual awards will be announced today.
