Soccer Blanked By Indiana

Trailing 1-0 at the half, the Illinois State soccer team could not bounce back against Indiana, falling to the Hoosiers, 2-0, at the 2001 IPFW Soccer Showcase. Lisa Tecklenburg scored the first half goal for IU and Kara Bryan put one past Redbird goalie Allison Farrington with 18 minutes left in regulation to seal the game. The Birds were within striking distance several times with shots ricocheting off the cross bar and side poles, but could not find the net. The game was a physical affair that saw four players receive yellow cards, including cautions to Redbirds Robyn Brady and Katie Long. Tonights exhibition was the final tune-up for the Redbirds who open their regular season Sept. 2 against Northern Illinois at 1:00 p.m. at Adelaide Street Field.
