Fresh off a 3-0 win Monday afternoon at Northern Iowa, the Illinois State womens soccer travels to Chicago for a 6 p.m. Thursday night tilt with Loyola.
The Redbirds, 3-1, 1-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference, have won their last two games which include a 3-2 win at Iowa and the aforementioned victory at Northern Iowa.
Loyola enters the match with a record of 1-3 with losses to Butler and Detroit and an overtime defeat at Northern Iowa.
While the Birds faced Loyola in the spring season, the Ramblers will not be that familiar as they have 11 freshmen on the roster.
We played against them in the spring and did well, Redbird coach Pete Kowall said. They are a young team starting several freshmen. They are at the point where they just need more time to develop and adjust to playing college soccer.
The Redbirds beat Loyola the last time the teams met, 3-1, two years ago at Adelaide Street Field.
Following Thursdays game, Illinois State travels to Cincinnati, Ohio, for a Sunday afternoon battle with Xavier.
