The connection between the Central Illinois community and Redbird athletics has a long tradition, and current student-athletes became a stronger part of that tradition during the recent community drive to support victims of the Sept. 11 tragedies.
More than 100 Illinois State student-athletes served as volunteers during Radio Bloomington's drive to support the American Red Cross in its efforts to deal with the tragedies in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania.
The effort raised more than $778,000 and gave student-athletes plenty of opportunities to share with members of the community during a difficult time for all Americans.
