The Redbirds were well represented in day two action of the Ball State Invitational on Saturday.
With two victories on Friday, Jason Smit advanced to the Section A quarterfinals of the singles competition, but was defeated by Vedran Vidovic of Indiana State (6-4, 6-3). After being defeated Friday by defending champion, Chris Varga, Ricky Heath competed in the Section A consolation bracket. In quarterfinals action, he defeated Brandon Currie of Butler (w/o), and in semifinals action he defeated Ryan Maarschalk of Western Michigan (6-1, 3-6, 6-4).
Also with two victories on Friday, Andy Martin advanced to the Section B quarterfinals of the singles competition, but was defeated by Felipe Montenegro of Drake (6-2, 6-1).
Both Mike Rubinelli and Marek Blaskovic advanced to the Section C quarterfinals of the singles competition with victories on Friday. In quarterfinal action, Rubinelli suffered a defeat at the hands of Mike Findling of Western Michigan (6-3, 6-3). Blaskovic defeated Dalibor Mihailovic of Indiana State (6-1, 3-6, 6-3) in quarterfinals action but was defeated by Findling in the semifinals.
In the quarterfinals of the Section A doubles competition, Heath and Foley were defeated by Louve Braikovic and Vedran Vidovic (8-6).
In the Section B quarterfinals of the doubles competition, Brad Rhodes and Chris Varga of Ball State defeated Jason Smit and Brent Steven. In the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket, Blaskovic and Martin defeated Kai Blache and Erik Lindroos of Western Michigan (8-3), but were defeated by Mike Hodge and Adam Hourani of Michigan State (8-5) in the semifinals.
In the quarterfinals of the Section C doubles competition, Cameron Marshall and Anthony Stefani of Michigan State defeated Rubinelli and Chad Andrews of St. Louis.
