Freshman Krystal Gary propelled the Illinois State softball team into Sundays bracket play at the State Farm NIC in Moline, Ill with a 1-0 victory over Illinois Central College.
Gary surrendered a hit to ICCs lead-off batter, but that was all she would allow, firing a one-hitter.
The Redbirds plated the lone run of the contest in the third inning, but could not capitalize on any other scoring opportunities.
Playing in Pool B, the Redbirds posted a mark of 2-1 with the only loss coming to Iowa 4-3. They now face the winner of the Bradley and Missouri-St. Louis game tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. The championship game of the single elimination bracket is slated for 2 p.m. in Moline.
