Marek Blaskovic and Andy Martin recorded both singles and doubles wins for Illinois State at the Western Michigan Invite, Sunday.
On the last day of competition, the Redbirds competed against DePaul in singles action and host Western Michigan in doubles action.
In singles competition, Blaskovic defeated Neil Johnston of DePaul (7-6, 6-2) in No.5 singles while Martin defeated Sam Davidson of DePaul (6-4, 6-2) in No. 4 singles. Blaskovic finished the weekend with a 2-1 singles record.
In the doubles competition, Blaskovic and Martin teamed up to defeat Blache and Kates of Western Michigan (8-1) in No. 3 doubles. In addition, they finished the weekend undefeated in doubles competition with a record of 3-0.
Both Blaskovic and Martin were encouraged with the way they played throughout the weekend.
We played well and everything just seemed to work out perfectly, said Blaskovic.
It was some of the best doubles Ive played at Illinois State, said Martin.
Also playing well for the Redbirds on Sunday was Brent Steven.
After a slow start, Steven rebounded to defeat Robert Kurek of DePaul (1-6, 6-3, 6-4) in No. 3 singles.
