Veterans Katie Shifflet and Becky McMurtry will lead the Illinois State White team while Corey Harris will lead Illinois State Red squad in the four team Redbird Fall Softball Tournament, Saturday. Besides the split squad of Redbirds (Illinois State Red and White) the field will include St. Xavier University and Illinois Central College.

Melinda Fischer looks forward to the opportunity to watch everyone play with the splitting of the team.
I am really excited for this weekends tournament and the splitting of the team into veterans and rookies, said Fischer. I think it will give us a really good indicator of our progress thus far.
Along with the split-squad of Redbirds, Fischer likes the competition that St. Xavier and ICC bring to the tournament.
ICC always puts together a good program and St. Xavier is coming off of a very good season in the spring, making for great competition, Fischer said.
Play in the Redbird Fall Tournament begins both Saturday and Sunday morning at 11 a.m. with Illinois State Red taking on ICC. The last game on Sunday will be the inter-squad battle Illinois State Red vs. Illinois State White beginning at 5 p.m.
