The undefeated Illinois State gymnastics team travels to Colorado to compete in the Rocky Mountain Invite, the season opener for the United States Air Force Academy, Saturday at 7 pm in the Cadet Gymnasiums West Gym.
Last week the Redbirds (2-0) defeated the University of Illinois in an away meet, 193.650 - 190.375. En route to the victory, the team posted a beam score of 49.225, only .075 away from a team record. Junior Heather Mohler took the individual all-around title with a score of 38.625.
The team looks to build on last weeks performance and secure another victory at the Academy. Head coach Beth Larson wants the team to be successful but enjoy the trip as well.
We feel pretty confident coming off the victory over Illinois, said Larson. We will take it one event at a time and have fun. The scenery is beautiful there, and we look for the whole trip to be a success.
