Jason Smit was eliminated from the Omni Hotels ITA Region V Championship in Tulsa, Okl. today in third round action.
Smit, the lone Redbird singles player to compete today, lost to Alexsey Bubis of Arkansas (6-2,6-1).
In doubles action, Ciaran Foley and Djordje Uskokovic lost in their first match of the day as well, losing (8-3) to Lore Brajkovic and Vedran Vidovic of Indiana State in the third round of action.
The ITA Region V Championships were a tough ride for the Redbirds as they 4 out 5 singles competitors did not advance past the first round of the main draw.
Ben Pettinari lost his first match of the day yesterday to Dalibor Majlovic of Indiana State, (6-4, 6-0), Ben Cappuccitti fell to Angelo Manns of Wichita State (6-3,3-6, 6-3), Marek Blaskovic was defeated by Jiri Jezek of Oklahoma State (7-6, 7-6) and Djordje Uskokovic lost to Bucky Mink of Colorado (6-4,4-6,7-6).
The ITA Region V Championships was the last competition of the fall for the Redbirds. They will start their spring season January 17 against Eastern Illinois.
