Julie Cocks, a sophomore transfer from Petersborough, Ontario, collected three individual first-place finishes and was a member of five first-place relay teams, was honored as the Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week for her performances the weekend of October 11 and 12.
Cocks, a business major at Illinois State, finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.36), first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.00) and first in the 400-yard individual medley (4:43.58) in the October 11 meet against Northern Iowa at Horton Pool.
At the all-relay meet against UNI on Saturday,October 12, Cocks was a member of the Illinois State 2 x 50 butterfly relay, 3 x 100 individual medley relay, 2 x 100 backstroke relay, 3 x 50 backstroke relay, and 3 x 50 butterfly relay, all which captured first-place.
The Redbirds won both meets against Northern Iowa, 195-99 and 138-92, respectively.
