Redbird Liina Suurvarik lost during round three of the Omni Hotels/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Championship to Michigan States Dora Vastag, 7-6, 8-6, 7-5. The loss was Suurvariks first this season.
Suurvarik defeated Minnesotas Angela Buergis (7-5, 6-1) during round one. She then went on to put away Iowas Cassie Haas (6-0, 6-1) in round two.
Head Coach Chris Hoover is proud of the perfomance that Suurvarik put on.
Of course its a little disappointing to fall out of the tournament, said Hoover, but its her first loss in singles this season. That record speaks for itself.
