Richdale Regains Top Spot for ISU Womens Golf Team at Lady Razorback

Seated in the 11th-place spot, Illinois State freshman Samantha Richdale regains the leading role for the Illinois State womens golf team after finishing the first two rounds of the Lady Razorback Invitational, played in Rogers, Arkansas on Monday. After finishing 48th overall and behind two of her teammates last week at the Lady Northern Invitational, Richdale regained the top spot for the Redbirds, finishing Mondays first two rounds with a team-best, two-round score of 160 (84-76). Richdale led her team to a 6th place seating after the opening rounds the tournament. The final round of eighteen will be played tomorrow at Pinnacle Country Club. The Birds team score of 651 is just two strokes back from 4th place team Middle Tennessee State. The University of Arkansas is currently in first place, carding a two-round team score of 623. ISU head coach Ray Kralis is hoping for higher scores from his team in Tuesdays final round. We had a disappointing start but we did bounce back, Kralis said. We dug a big hole after the first round with some big number holes but the girls did go in the right direction in the second round with everyone turning in higher scores. Kraliss team did come back with better scores in the second round of play on Monday afternoon. Ashlee Johnson is currently in 19th place with a 162 (85-77). The team score was rounded out by Ashlie Rose, who shot a 163 (82-81) and is currently in 22nd place, Albiona Zhubi, shooting a 166 (85-81) for 31st place and Katie Laehn, who carded a 171(88-83), positioning her in 46th place going into the final round. Kralis sports a positive attitude going in the final day of competition. We are looking at the positives, said Kralis. We will continue to build going into tomorrow.
