After a week-long winning-streak on the road, Illinois States duo of Liina Suurvarik/Alesia Mikalayeva will return home after a loss in the qualifying doubles finals at the 2002 Riviera/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Womens All-American Tournament.
Competing against the best of the best, Suurvarik/Mikalayeva picked up a second win today, defeating Kansas team of Courtney Steinbock and Kristen Steinbock (8-6) in the semi-finals of the qualifying rounds.
In the finals, though, Suurvarik/Mikalayeva met their match and picked up their second loss of the season, losing to Floridas Lindsay Dawaf and Julie Rotondi, 8-5.
Suurvarik/Mikalayeva are now 7-2 for the fall season. Next up for the Redbirds is the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Tournament in East Lansing, Michigan, which gets underway on October 24.
