With Wichita State and Illinois State both winning on the road Saturday, the Missouri Valley Conference had to sort through a three-way tie for fourth place to finalize its pairings for the six-team 2002 State Farm-Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
No. 6 seed Illinois State takes on No. 3 seed Southern Illinois at 10 a.m. Saturday at Robertson Field House in Peoria. No. 5 Bradley plays host to No. 4 Wichita State at 12:30 p.m.
Wichita State earned the No. 4 seed with its 3-1 record against the other two fourth-place teams, Bradley (2-2) and Illinois State (1-3). Bradley is seeded No. 5 and the Redbirds No. 6. The winner of Illinois State-Southern Illinois plays the No. 2 seed, Southwest Missouri State the same night at 5 p.m. The Bradley-WSU match winner faces No. 1 seed Northern Iowa at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Illinois State is the only Valley team to earn selection in all 21 tournaments.
