Its Official: Redbird Defensive Records Fall

Illinois States Jonathan Friend and Boomer Grigsby each left their mark on Redbird football this season and next years record section in the annual media guide will be proof. Friends 25 TFLs surpassed the 16-year record of John Kropke, who amassed 23 in 1986. For his career, Friend posted 37 tackles for loss, which ranks No. 4 all-time. Grigsby, a sophomore, compiled 179 tackles on the season breaking the mark of current assistant and former Redbird great Galen Scott. Scott had 175 tackles in 1998, also his sophomore campaign. In his two seasons, Grigsby has claimed both the freshman and sophomore tackles record.
