An apparent stomach virus kept starting guard Katie Donovan from making the trip to Kalamazoo with her Illinois State teammates for the season opener at Western Michigan.
Donovan, the Redbirds' leading rebounder as a freshman and a member of the Missouri Valley Conference All-Newcomer team, will attempt to rest this weekend and be ready for Monday's home opener at 7 p.m. vs. Butler in Redbird Arena.
"We're hoping that by not trying to travel or play this weekend that Katie will feel better and be able to help us on Monday night," said Redbird coach Jenny Yopp.
The Redbirds' game with Western Michigan begins at 1 p.m. central time.
