For their accomplishments at last Fridays dual meet against Illinois, Illinois States Lindsay Crowder and Krystal Featherston have been named Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.
Crowder, a senior from Brooklyn, Ontario, broke the Horton Pool record in the 100-yard freestyle in her final home meet as a Redbird. Her season-best and first-place time of 52.56 broke the previous record of 52.63 set by Tina Hinton in 1991.
Featherston is the second Illinois State diver in as many weeks to be named diver of the week. A freshman and native of Kokomo, Ind., Featherston set new career-highs in the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions. She placed second in the three-meter event with a score of 243.75 and finished in third-place in the one-meter with a total of 245.85.
The Redbird swimming and diving team has the weekend off before traveling to Southern Illinois for the Valley Championships, February 21-23.
