The Redbird softball team was dealt their first loss against Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon, 4-6, after their earlier win over no. 6 Iowa.
Illinois States (4-5-0) loss to the undefeated Oklahoma State Cowgirls (9-0-0) in the Redbirds fourth game of the tournament halted their three-game winning streak, which started after their first win against Michigan State, 8-0.
Senior Shea Wesley marked the first run for the Redbirds, when in the first inning she hit a single deep into left field and was later scored by a rip to center field by Jamie Bagnall.
The Birds remained scoreless until a short rally in the bottom of the sixth, when Corey Harris got on base by an error on the Cowgirls second baseman and later advanced home on a double by freshman Lauren Bierwirth.
Three runs were scored in the inning, but not enough to grab the Birds fourth win of the tournament.
Illinois State will play its next game on Sunday at 10 a.m. against no. 8 Arizona State.
