With Redbird wins over Michigan State, 8-0, and (8) Arizona State, 3-0, on Friday, the Redbirds kept their streak going with a win over No. 6 Iowa, 6-3, in the Louisville Slugger Classic Saturday morning. After six innings of trailing the Hawkeyes, 1-3, Jamie Bagnall stepped up to the plate in the top of the seventh and stroked a grand slam, the first of her career, giving the Birds the lead, 6-3. Audra Rast finalized the win for Illinois State in the bottom of the seventh, throwing three strikeouts in a row, grabbing her second win of the weekend. The Redbirds had great play from Abbie Scott, who in the fourth inning drilled a homerun off of All-American pitcher Kristi Hanks, making it the first of her career at Illinois State. Corey Harris also hit the ball well, going 2-2 for the game. Dominque Borba had the only double for the Redbirds in the game, grabbing an RBI on the hit.
