Second Win for Women's Tennis

The health concerns that have trailed the Illinois State women's tennis team throughout the spring season were not apparent as the team defeated Saint Louis University 6-1 on Friday. After having last weekend off to rest, the Redbirds are back in the game. This weekend's win brings their record to 2-4 for the season. Head coach Chris Hoover is glad things are looking up. "We're not one hundred percent, but we're moving in the right direction," said Hoover. ISU gave up only one singles match and one doubles match to Saint Louis. The weekend is not over for Illinois State's Liina Suurvarik and Alesia Mikalayeva who will compete Saturday in the State Farm Women's Tennis Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz., which features some of the top-ranked tennis players in the world. As a team, the next scheduled match for the Redbirds is next Friday, March 1 versus the University of Indiana, and will be the second home match for the 'Birds.
