Illinois State was unable to hold their own against Iowa, as they fell 7-0 to the Hawkeyes, despite a win by Redbird duo Ciaran Foley and Benjamin Pettinari at No. 2 doubles.
ISUs Foley/Pettinari defeated Iowas team of Jake Wilson and Tres Jones by the score of 8-5 to gain the solo victory for the Redbirds.
It wasnt without a fight that the Redbirds took defeat, though. Both Jason Smit and Andy Martin took their matches to three sets in their battle against the Hawkeyes.
The loss to Iowa brings the Redbirds overall record to 4-7.
It will be in warmer weather that the Birds get their next chance to redeem themselves. The team will travel to Florida, during Illinois States spring break, where they will take on Florida Atlantic on March 11.
