Jill Rachford, a senior on the Illinois State womens golf team, was named Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after finishing 24th at the Spaulding/Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational last week.
Last Tuesday, Rachford, a native of East Peoria, Ill., shot 79 for the second-straight day at the Tuscawilla Country Club in Winter Park, Fla. Her total score of 158 earned her an individual finish of 24, tied with teammate Ashlee Johnson.
Hosted by Rollins College, the Spaulding/Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational featured 13 teams and 74 individuals. The Redbirds, led by Rachford and Johnson, placed seventh as a team.
Illinois State returns to the links Mar. 23-25 at the Saluki Invitational, hosted by Southern Illinois.
